Samita Ma'am's engaging style of teaching and her patient, supportive guidance has invariably boosted my confidence and performance in the rigorous IBDP English Literature course. Initially, I faced some conceptual difficulties in adjusting to the tricky genre of analysing unseen texts and writing literary commentaries in Year 1. However, as I began working with Ma’am, her wealth of experience in teaching IB helped me develop a strong knowledge base of the subject. Ma’am’s valuable feedback based on IB marking rubrics and her constant support gave me a clear sense of direction to work towards in rectifying my conceptual errors, leading to steady, consistent improvements in my performance in Year 2. In addition to being a wonderful mentor, Ma’am has constantly encouraged me to improve upon my competencies in literary analysis and strive for the best grades I could achieve in my examinations. I owe my utmost gratitude to her tremendous contribution in helping me improve my writing skills and ultimately secure a Grade 7 in my Board examinations.

Words cannot express my gratitude to Ms. Samita for guiding me throughout my IB journey. She was a rock who could be counted on to navigate me through the complexities of the HL English curriculum. Ma’am showed keen interest in assisting me through my extended essay and ensured that my syllabus was completed well in advance and that the quality of my responses were of a high calibre. She ensured that each one of her students were proficient in deconstructing texts for the English Language and Literature Paper 1 as well as for the Individual Oral.

I vouch for Ms. Samita as a teacher who truly wishes the best for her students. Ma’am’s experience as an IB examiner gave me the confidence to work on her constructive feedback, and with continuous revisions, I was able to improve my work to ultimately achieve the highest band.

When it comes to writing English exams, we all (including myself) tend to neglect practicing weeks before the exam and instead study the day before. It wasn't until I joined Samita Ma'am's classes that I realized that achieving the grades I wanted meant putting in a lot of practice using the tips I was taught at the end I ended up with a 6 in the IB English exam!

From structuring responses to analysing texts, Samita Ma’am really dug deep to identify my weaknesses and made sure that I worked on them while she simultaneously polished my strengths. Using a plethora of resources, Ma’am made sure that I understood the challenges of the question first before applying the concepts. Honestly what drew me to Samita Ma’am’s classes was her up to date knowledge and confidence in the subject with regards to the curriculum.

As a student, I can relate to what other students think of tuitions: stressful, rigorous, extra workload. This was honestly my first impression of what an English tuition would look like but Samita Ma’am really changed my whole perspective on how tuitions are conducted: interactive and fun. Unlike most tuition teachers who directly dive into teaching, Ma’am first makes us feel welcome in her humble abode before anything by catching up with us and then starts teaching.

I can confidently say that even after IB, I still remember the most important aspects of writing an essay all thanks to Ma’am which will definitely come in handy for my future plans!!

Samita Ma’am’s classes have been a steep learning curve. She taught me how to analyse texts and structure my answers through the multitude of resources she provided. The constant feedback I received from ma’am on how I could improve and refine my answers left no room for any uncertainty. She was a huge support and guide for my IO as well. I am a person who was often stressed before any oral presentations. With her guidance and mentoring, not only did I do well in my finals, my self confidence in English as a subject increased. I am extremely grateful to her for helping me through IB.

Ms Samita is a fantastic tutor and in a short span of few months, helped her achieve her target score in IB English A Language and Literature HL. She has been kind, encouraging and patient and explains each topic very well. Ms Samita has positively motivated and pushed Gayatri to achieve her maximum potential. She gives a lot of extra resources, revisions, and feedback. Gayatri used to be very hesitant in English subject initially, but thanks to Ma’am, she has gained confidence, and this is helping in her university as well.

I would like to say a big thank you to Ms Samita for providing my son an excellent opportunity to learn and grow. She made him build up his confidence in the language. She is such a dedicated teacher who puts her heart and soul into her teaching. My son plays cricket and has odd timing for trainings and matches but Ms Samita was so accommodating and always made sure he covered up the topic which he missed. As a parent I feel so happy and relaxed to find a teacher who has made my son enjoy learning and overcome his anxiety for the subject. Miss Samita has not only been a tremendous guiding light in my academic development, but also a pillar of support throughout my IGCSE and IB journey. Her way with words inspired me to think creatively and her knowledge about both the curricula ensured that I was putting out the best quality work for which I would get my deserved grades. She always prioritised my academic, hence why I was able to achieve commendable grades in English.

Schools today teach language education as a means to a mark. Ms Samita Bhattacharya, however, is a bridge from mere literacy to being a connoisseur of words and feelings. She understands teenagers like nobody else and helps them appreciate language as a rich means of expression. She is the sort of teacher you remember and respect for a lifetime.

She taught our son Abeer, who is now at Stanford, and our daughter Aarushi, who just received full marks in her English Literature GCSE - the best in the world. We wish Ms Samita all the best in her new endeavour. She will be making many lives brighter and better.

I started with Samita ma’am’s classes at the beginning of my IB. Having earlier done IGCSE English, IB English was no match. But ma’am really helped me pull through. In the pandemic environment with remote learning especially, studying with Ma’am was quite effective. Her feedback was useful in raising my level from a mere level 4 to a final level 7. Her constant encouragement strengthened my resolve. My knowledge of literature under her has undoubtedly improved. I would truly recommend her for anyone doing IB English A Literature SL.
